What’s New in Canine Lymphoma

Overview:
Traditionally, lymphoma therapy was considered a recipe, and protocols were commonplace that were considered a "one size fits all" for treatment. With the advent of newer immunologic, molecular, and histologic diagnostics, the treatment and diagnostics of lymphoma are changing. Decisions regarding which chemotherapeutic agents/protocols to be utilized are now based on tumor grade, location, histologic subtype, and phenotype. This lecture will describe some of the new developments in canine lymphoma.
Learning Objectives
- Learn why phenotyping is important prognostically and therapeutically for large-cell lymphoma, and what is considered the best method.
- Understand the most common form of indolent canine lymphoma
- Examine treatment options with Laverdia CA-1 as a viable alternative to prednisone for owners who do not wish to pursue standard chemotherapy for dogs with LSA.
