Updates on FIC: Practical Approaches to Diagnosis and Care
0.5 CE Credit Hour / Veterinarians & Veterinary Technicians
Overview:
Feline idiopathic cystitis (FIC) is the most common cause of feline lower urinary tract (LUT) signs. Despite a presentation primarily associated with LUT signs, FIC represents a health condition that involves more than the urinary bladder, linking the nervous system, adrenal system, husbandry practices, and the environment in which the cat lives. In this seminar, we will outline strategies to augment FIC diagnosis and explore how to identify key triggers for FIC. Attendees will gain an understanding of basic feline essential needs and how correcting deficiencies in husbandry practices and the environment can contribute to better disease management.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand the link between feline bladder health and emotional well-being
- Apply strategies to improve FIC diagnosis and identify potential links to deficiencies in essential environmental needs
- Evaluate patient-specific needs and create patient-specific care plans
