Updates in Nutritional Management of Feline Diabetes

Overview:
This course touches on general nutritional management of feline diabetes mellitus and covers recent scientific publications on this topic. A proposed new classification system and nutritional guidelines for feline diabetes mellitus will be reviewed, as well as the results of a recent clinical trial evaluating a new nutritional innovation in insulin-treated overweight diabetic cats.

Tabitha Hookey DVM, DACVIM (Nutrition)
Tabitha graduated as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Atlantic Veterinary College at the University of Prince Edward Island. After practicing as a companion animal veterinarian in Canada, she completed a small animal clinical nutrition residency training program at the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine and was granted Diplomate status in the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Nutrition) in 2022. In 2019, she joined ROYAL CANIN® in the global Research & Development division, where she is a Scientific Specialist with a focus on obesity and diabetes in cats and dogs.
