In the past, there have been 2 types of pet food formats: dry and canned, made by a few known pet food manufacturers. This presentation will address today’s complex diversity in pet food formats, new processing methods, new preservation systems, and a variety of nutritional compositions. New research compares how traditional and new product formats impact pets’ health and nutrition. Understanding the differences between pet formats will help veterinary professionals better manage nutritional risks, provide information and facts to clients, and make sound dietary decisions to benefit the pet.
