This talk is intended to review the incidence of periodontal disease, the differences in treatment based on bone levels, and the indication for the use of ReGumVet in patients with advanced periodontal disease. Attendees will learn tips for ultrasonic cleaning as well as hand instrumentation to prepare the surface for the application of ReGumVet in general practice. The steps for placement as well as flap closure are discussed to allow the attendee to be able to save more teeth with ReGumVet.

Learning Objectives:

  • Recall the incidence of periodontal disease and the teeth most often affected along with their structure.
  • Understand methods of periodontal pocket debridement that can be done in general practice.
  • Demonstrate knowledge regarding graft placements and flap closure methods.

Dr. Jennifer Mathis, DAVDC

Dr. Mathis is a board-certified veterinary dentist in the Des Moines, Iowa area. Additionally, with over 20 years of initial experience in general practice, she has also become a certified veterinary pain practitioner and medical acupuncturist through the International Veterinary Academy of Pain Management. Dr. Mathis is passionate about treating the mouth to prevent/treat pain, helping to ensure the well-being of her patients. In 2024, she was named WVC’s Hands-On Laboratory Speaker of the Year.
