Mastering the Money Side of Your Exit Strategy: The Science of Practice Valuation
0.5 CE Credit Hour / Veterinarians & Veterinary Technicians
Overview:
Most practice owners assume that when they’re ready to sell, the numbers will speak for themselves. The truth? Your financial independence after the sale depends on far more than what a buyer offers — it depends on how you’ve planned, structured, and protected your exit. The exit planning starts earlier than you think. Eric Mill will unpack the financial blind spots that cause practice owners to settle for deals that don’t truly secure their future. Whether you’re 2 years or 10 years away from selling, you’ll gain the clarity and confidence to align your practice value with your long-term wealth goals — and walk away on your terms, not the buyer’s.
Learning Objectives:
- Why so many practice owners walk away from their sale DISAPPOINTED — even when the offer looked great on paper
- The HIDDEN financial blind spot that causes owners to overvalue or undervalue their business
- The three deal terms that can LOOK profitable… until you see the fine print
- How to tell if an offer will REPLACE your income — before you sign anything
- The CRITCAL question every practice owner must be able to answer before accepting an offer — and why most never get the right help to answer it.
Eric S. Miller
Chief Financial Advisor & Co-Owner
As one of the original Econologics Financial Advisors, it has been a pleasure to help build an organization that offers real financial solutions for healthcare owners and associates. I have had the opportunity to watch our firm grow from one advisor to multiple financial advisors who are servicing hundreds of professionals all across the country.
Being from a family who is primarily in the healthcare industry, I saw firsthand how difficult it can be to balance helping patients and having the financial resources to live well and take care of the family. Our company runs on this mission: To ensure these owners and associates get the premier financial advice they deserve.
I was raised in Toledo, OH and attended Capital University in Columbus, OH where I obtained a degree in History. It didn’t take long to realize that I was much more interested in personal finance and started to pursue that as a career path. I worked for an investment management company in Dublin, OH and got my first experience in retirement planning and working directly with financial advisors. From there, I moved to Clearwater, FL and helped start what would become Econologics Financial Advisors. Currently, I have my Series 65 securities license, my life, health and annuity insurance license and co-own an insurance agency with my partner. I am also a Registered Financial Consultant ™ with the IARFC. In addition, I wrote “How to Become a Financial Beast” which became an Amazon Best Seller in November of 2022.
With my free time, I do enjoy reading about American History and the sacrifices it took to build this great nation. I love spending time with my wife and children, working out, going on hunting trips, traveling to the Smokey Mountains, and hopefully one day watching the Cleveland Browns win the Super Bowl!My ultimate goal is to pass down has much financial knowledge and education to the next generation and to be a beacon of financial sanity for others.
