Managing Canine Atopic Dermatitis in 2024

Overview:

This program will cover current treatment options available for managing canine atopic dermatitis (AD). The presenter will follow the guidelines from the International Committee on Allergic Disease in Animals (ICADA). The presenter will discuss when to use certain therapies, as well as when certain therapeutic options may be suboptimal or even contraindicated.

Learning Objectives:

  • Learn when to reach for corticosteroids, oclacitinib, cyclosporine, lokivetmab, and allergen-specific immunotherapy
  • Understand the indications and contraindications of these therapeutic options
  • Learn what to do if a chosen therapy is ineffective

Thomas P. Lewis II, DVM, DACVD

Dr. Lewis obtained his DVM degree from Colorado State University and was then awarded Diplomate certification by the American College of Veterinary Dermatology.

Dr. Lewis has a passion for the veterinary profession and the specialty of dermatology. His principle interest includes investigating the role of allergies and the effect they have on the skin. Dr. Lewis was the founder of Dermatology for Animals with offices in multiple states. He has now helped train 22 residents in dermatology, and participated in 29 clinical trials.
