Overview:

This program will cover the key features in creating a multi-modal approach to appropriately recognize and prevent recurrent otitis externa in companion animals. Getting to the bottom of the underlying cause will be highlighted as a feature of prevention. Whole-animal as well as focused, local treatment approaches will be covered. We will discuss commercially available options as well as how to utilize your own polypharmacy. Chronic, recurrent otitis externa can be extremely frustrating, and this program will help you tackle it head-on!

Key Learning Objectives:

⦁ Recognize patients that would benefit from prevention protocols addressing recurrent otitis externa and will be able to discuss such protocol options with owners.

⦁ Learn to create a plan for how to appropriately diagnose and address the underlying cause of recurrent otitis externa.

⦁ Assess a multitude of options for how to use systemic and/or topical therapies to prevent recurrent otitis externa.

Dr. Miller graduated from Cornell's vet school and began her career as a large animal veterinarian. After completing a large animal medicine and surgery internship at the University of Georgia she went on to mixed animal practice is north then south Carolina. She then pursued her love of surgery at a high volume high quality surgery center before turning her attention back to her true love, the skin. She completed a dermatology residency at Cornell and stayed on as faculty after. When she's not prescribing steroids, she loves all things related to horses, bully breeds, and singing.
