Like a Light in Shining Armor: Revisited Fluorescence Biomodulation in the Clinical Setting

Overview:
This lecture aims to introduce and discuss potential applications of fluorescence photobiomodulation in veterinary medicine, specifically as it pertains to wound healing and other skin conditions. Strongly touted as a boon to canine dermatology, this lecture will discuss the far-reaching benefits that this state-of-art therapy could have in the field of veterinary surgery and potentially with other species as well.
Learning Objectives:
- Review and understand how fluorescence biomodulation can benefit all stages of wound healing
- Review other topical strategies for wound healing that can be used in conjunction with fluorescence biomodulation therapy.
- Reinvigorate and foster a more collaborative approach across disciplines (e.g. surgery and dermatology) to optimize medical outcomes and improve skin healing.
Courtney A. Campbell, DVM, DACVS-SA
Dr. Courtney A. Campbell is a board certified small animal surgeon who specializes in orthopedic, soft tissue, and minimally invasive surgery. Dr. Campbell most recently worked at a surgical center in southern California and has now transitioned to locum surgery. Courtney has been a host, author, producer, and content creator for over 10 years. He has been deeply dedicated to veterinary journalism including co-hosting Pet Talk - a first of its kind talk show on Nat Geo Wild. He is a recurring veterinary health correspondent on a variety of programs such as The Rachael Ray Show, WebMD, Home & Family and others. He shares his life between veterinary surgery, veterinary journalism, and exploring the depth of the human-animal bond. He’s looking forward to new possibilities in 2023.
Adam Christman, DVM, MBA
