Lessons Learned from the Liver

Overview:
This presentation will briefly compare and contrast canine and feline liver physiology, as that sets the stage for the discussion of how clinicians can best recognize hepatopathies in these 2 species.

Craig Webb, DVM, PhD, DACVIM (SAIM)
After completing his PhD in Neuroscience, Dr. Webb earned his DVM from the University of Wisconsin. Following his internship, he joined Colorado State University as a Small Animal Medicine resident with Dr. David Twedt as his mentor, and has remained on faculty at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital for over two decades. He is the Head of the SAM service and very much enjoys working with bright young students on the clinic floor, seeing patients, and running clinical trials. Dr. Webb’s greatest accomplishment was marrying the much better looking and much smarter Dr. Tracy Webb, with whom he collaborates on a number of research projects, and life.

A Pet Owner’s Guide for Owners Who Are Terrified of IVDD—a book on dogs with disabilities. He was recently awarded the 2023 VMX Speaker of the Year on Practice Management, the 2023 Bright Minds Veterinary Influencer of the Year and the 2023 Iowa State University’s Switzer Alumni Award.
He has been featured in multiple publications including TV, radio and internet shows throughout the country sharing his expertise and passion on all things veterinary medicine.
As an avid social media influencer for animal health care, he has almost 2 million followers on social media. He loves to engage with fellow pet parents and veterinary professionals across social media. Christman is an advocate of Pride VMC. He is also the proud dog dad to 4 dachshunds and believes no one should be deprived of the human-animal bond.
