Christopher Shapley, DVM, CVA, CVCH began working at Brick Town Veterinary Hospital in May of 2018. He was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana but grew up in Toms River, New Jersey; he now resides in East Windsor. Dr. Shapley attended Montclair State University for undergrad and later went on to earn a DVM degree from the Western University of Health Sciences. He previously practiced at Freehold Animal Hospital. Dr. Shapley is a specialist in veterinary acupuncture and herbal medicine. He has two pet dogs at home, Carrie and Bogey. In his spare time, Dr. Shapley enjoys Kung Fu, surfing, camping and archery.
Overview:
This course covers Veterinary Acupuncture and how to determine which acupuncture points to use based on Pattern Diagnosis. The Pattern Diagnosis being the first step in determining a Patient’s Disease Pattern and developing an acupuncture treatment protocol.
Learning Objectives:
- Foundational understanding of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine for the treatment of multiple species and a wide range of common maladies seen in all practices, both General and Specialty.
- The Core Principles of Diagnosis and Treatment in a clinical setting utilizing on Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine.
- Attendees will learn how to develop a TCVM Pattern Diagnosis, the various types of Acupuncture and Food Therapy and Herbal Formulations available to TCVM practitioners as well as how/when to utilize TCVM in daily practice.
This course is RACE-approved for 1.0 continuing education credits hours in jurisdictions that accept RACE-approval.
