Amber graduated from Morehead State University in Kentucky in 2001. She achieved her VTS(ECC) in 2014. Currently, she works for MedVet in Cincinnati Ohio as the Clinical Education Specialist. She has a personal interest in the subjects of CPR and Intensive Care Nursing as well as clinical skill development. She keeps the company of a small ark that includes snakes, lizards, guinea pigs, a parrot, and a goofy whippet. In her free time, she enjoys reading science fiction, practicing tai chi, making photo albums, and generally being a bit of a nerd.
Overview:
Motor vehicle accidents are an unfortunately common emergency in veterinary practice. These cases can range from minor abrasions to life-threatening trauma, leaving veterinary teams feeling overwhelmed. This practical session guides technicians through a structured approach to evaluation, stabilization, resuscitation, and management of the hit-by-car patient. Learn key tips to (and a few tricks) to patient assessment and management, making outcomes more successful.

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Identify common injuries and clinical presentations in canine motor vehicle trauma patients.
- Perform systematic patient assessments to determine severity and prioritize interventions.
- Implement appropriate resuscitation and stabilization techniques, including shock management and initial wound care.
- Evaluate patient outcomes to refine treatment approaches and enhance future care protocols.
