Overview:
In this lecture, our main focus will be on understanding the principles of fluid therapy and discussing key considerations for formulating and implementing an effective fluid therapy plan.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify shock syndromes and, more importantly, those responsive to fluid therapy.
- Define dehydration.
- Explain the relationship between nutrient oxidation and water production.
- Recognize subtle physical exam findings, such as loss associated with dehydration.
- Interpret urine specific gravity (USG) values in dehydrated dogs and cats.
