Overview:

Although veterinarians and their staff receive training in pain management, it is still woefully inadequate. The purpose of this program is to teach the entire veterinary staff to work with the caregiver and pet to make an effective team in the diagnosis and treatment of chronic pain.

 Learning Objectives:

  • The members of the entire pain management team will be reviewed and demonstrated in how to assess and treat pain in dogs and cats
  • Attendees will be able to outline the critical roles, and identify the duties of each team member to develop an effective program in pain recognition
  • The importance of outcome measures will be outlined with an illustration of how treatments can fail without communication between the veterinary staff and the caregiver
