Dr. Casey Carl is a graduate of the Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine. As a clinician in his early career, Dr. Carl found himself frustrated by inherited diseases and the challenges that they posed for veterinarians, breeders, and pet owners. As a result, Dr. Carl began his journey into the canine genetics industry in 2013. In his current position with Embark, Dr. Carl assists veterinary clinicians with the interpretation and application of canine genetic test results in disease treatment and preventative care planning. He also has significant experience providing genetic counseling services to breeders looking to improve the genetic health of their bloodlines. He has contributed to multiple peer-reviewed canine genetics publications and has written dozens of blogs and articles exploring inherited canine diseases. In addition, Dr. Carl has been a featured guest on multiple podcasts and TV spots and has frequently presented educational material to breed clubs and other canine organizations. Dr. Carl is driven by the desire to prevent unnecessary suffering and to improve the clinical outcomes of dogs affected by inherited diseases.
