Creating a Calmer Clinic

Overview:
In this 1-hour virtual webinar the audience will be walked through a general practice and demonstrate the value of Reducing Fear, Anxiety and Stress with a Calmer Clinic atmosphere. Begins by reviewing the prevalence of fear, anxiety, and stress for many patients and pet parents today at veterinary hospitals, as well as the ongoing mental health challenges for veterinary professionals. Attendees will learn how practical and appropriate use of pheromones and other stress-reducing techniques within veterinary clinics can lower fear and anxiety scores in patients, pet parents, and veterinary teams. Specific examples will be given within each section for logistical placement, workflow implementation, and expected outcomes. The moderator will tour the hospital and interview key stakeholders within the practice.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand the current prevalence of anxiety in feline and canine patients.
- To review the basis of pheromone therapy and different subtypes of pheromones.
- To understand how a calm veterinary hospital benefits patients, pet parents, and veterinary team members.

Dr. Natalie Marks, DVM, CVJ is an internationally renowned and award-winning veterinarian, educator and the co-founder of Top Vets Talk Pets. After running the largest small animal practice in Chicago for over 10 years, Dr. Marks is dedicated to helping pet owners and veterinarians work as a team to ensure the health and happiness of our beloved furry family members.
Amy Learn, VMD, DACVB
Dr. Learn grew up outside Philadelphia, PA and spent summers visiting family at the Jersey Shore where she still loves to visit. She attended undergrad in Bethlehem PA receiving a BS in Biology and worked at a wildlife conservation park in Texas before being accepted to the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine.
She is currently a Board-Certified Veterinary Behaviorist and the Chief of Clinical Behavioral Medicine at the Animal Behavior Wellness Center in Richmond VA. Dr. Learn lectures across the country and has contributed to several veterinary textbooks, journal articles, blogs and received the prestigious RK Anderson Resident Achievement Award from the American College of Veterinary Behaviorists for outstanding research in the field of applied animal behavior.
Adam Christman, DVM, MBA
