Clinical Empathy: The Exam Room Skill That Can Transform Your Team

1.0 CE Credit Hour / Veterinarians & Veterinary Technicians

Overview:

As veterinary professionals, we strive to meet pet families where they are to provide needed pet care, the skill of clinical empathy can be a vital tool in making that easier and more successful. When veterinary healthcare team members practice with clinical empathy, they can better tailor treatment plans to pet families' needs, values, and resources. By developing this crucial skill, participants can learn to cultivate emotional connections with clients, establish trust and compliance, and ultimately increase the likelihood of delivering more care for more pets.

This webinar will debunk misconceptions and offer practical techniques such as asking open-ended questions, active listening, and empathic responses to better connect with clients, enhance patient care, and find greater personal career fulfillment.

Learning Objectives:

  • Define clinical empathy and how it fits into a spectrum of care approach
  • Understand how properly harnessing the skill of clinical empathy can enhance client trust and compliance
  • Identify ways to integrate clinical empathy into client visits by using case-based scenarios with actionable takeaways to share with the whole team
