Chronic Pain Management: Looking beyond NSAIDs
0.5 CE Credit Hour / Veterinarians & Veterinary Technicians
Overview:
This webinar is designed for veterinary professionals seeking to enhance their understanding and skills in treating chronic pain in their patients. We will explore the benefits of a multimodal approach to pain management, integrating both pharmacological and nonpharmacological interventions. Attendees will gain insights into the latest evidence-based practices for using medications, physical therapy, acupuncture, environmental modifications, and other strategies to improve patient outcomes and quality of life. Join us for an in-depth discussion on how to create and implement individualized pain management plans that address the unique needs of each patient.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand the mechanisms and applications of pharmacological interventions: Participants will be able to describe the mechanisms of action, indications, and potential adverse effects of commonly used pharmacological agents, including NSAIDs, in the management of chronic pain in veterinary patients.
- Explore Nonpharmacological pain management techniques: Attendees will learn how to implement nonpharmacological interventions such as massage therapy, cryotherapy, and dietary supplements like green-lipped mussel, and understand their role in a multimodal pain management plan.
- Develop comprehensive multimodal pain management plans: By the end of the session, participants will be able to design and tailor multimodal pain management strategies that combine both pharmacological and nonpharmacological approaches to meet the specific needs of their patients.
