Overview:
Blastomycosis and histoplasmosis are 2 of the most common invasive fungal infections in dogs and cats in North America with overlapping endemic areas. This program provides the practicing veterinarian with all of the information needed to efficiently diagnose, treat, and monitor treatment of blastomycosis and histoplasmosis in dogs and cats. When is antibody testing indicated? What to do when itraconazole isn’t working? How to know when to safely discontinue treatment? And more.
Learning Objectives:
- Compare and contrast the clinical presentation of blastomycosis and histoplasmosis.
- Know when to order antibody testing in addition to antigen testing.
- Determine how to monitor treatment and when to discontinue treatment.
- Understand treatment options when first-line therapy is not working (salvage therapy).
- Know when to recommend amphotericin-b.

As Veterinary Services Director he oversees veterinary consultation, veterinary research studies, and provides strategic leadership to expand our menu of veterinary services and products.
