An Innovative Approach to Injury Therapy and Recovery

0.5 CE Credit Hour / Veterinarians & Veterinary Technicians

Overview:

This webinar sheds new light on the chronic underutilization of laser therapy in small animal practices. By changing the approach, the delivery and the methodology, this presentation will empower veterinary assistants, technicians and doctors to efficiently and effectively provide anti-inflammatory and pain relief therapy to more animals each day in their practice.

Key Learning Objectives:

  • Understanding the Whole Animal Approach and how that affects the treatment plan
  • Examine case studies and peer-reviewed research on laser therapy.
  • Understanding the tangible applications that can be replicated

Dr Tom Walsh’s passion for animals resulted in an abrupt turn in his life. After a successful career in telecommunications, he gave that up to become a veterinarian. And he has never looked back. After working years as a vet, he found his niche—small animal rehabilitation. Dr. Walsh established PrimePet Rehab, a mobile small animal rehabilitation and physical therapy service that treats animals at a number of veterinary clinics. Therapeutic laser is integral to his practice and is used daily to provide inflammation and pain reduction and to speed healing times. Dr. Walsh started using laser for post-op, IVDD recovery and trauma. He saw recovery for back surgery reduced from 4-6 weeks to less than half the time. Improvement in recovery time made a big difference for owners going through a traumatic event with their pets and helped the animals relax as well. After seeing results from his early work with laser therapy, Dr. Walsh expanded the scope of conditions he treats and often uses it in combination with other treatment modalities with great results.
