Christopher Shapley, DVM, CVA, CVCH began working at Brick Town Veterinary Hospital in May of 2018. He was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana but grew up in Toms River, New Jersey; he now resides in East Windsor. Dr. Shapley attended Montclair State University for undergrad and later went on to earn a DVM degree from the Western University of Health Sciences. He previously practiced at Freehold Animal Hospital. Dr. Shapley is a specialist in veterinary acupuncture and herbal medicine. He has two pet dogs at home, Carrie and Bogey. In his spare time, Dr. Shapley enjoys Kung Fu, surfing, camping and archery.

Overview:

This course covers various alternative medicine treatment modalities for pain management, specifically osteoarthritis, in companion animals. This course will cover traditional alternative modalities (eg. acupuncture and herbs) as well as more modern alternative medicine modalities (eg. PRP and PEMF).

Learning Objectives:

  • A broader understanding of Alternative Medicine available modalities for the treatment of Osteoarthritis for Canine and Feline patients.
  • The most current non-pharmaceutical treatment options available for clients wanting Alternative modalities for the treatment of their pet’s osteoarthritis pain.
  • Attendees will learn about many of the alternative modalities for pain management available to them when addressing osteoarthritis in companion animals. They will not only learn what is available to their patients but, also the efficacy of each treatment modality and in which cases each are used best in.
